While the applications for short term mission (STM) trips and financial support are approved by the mission committee (MC), the primary responsibility for approving the application for personal participation in a specific STM team belongs to the leader(s) for that STM team. However, even in this latter case, the MC still has authority to recommend disapproval to the STM leader when there is sufficient concern.
